Jul. 1st, 2008 11:42 amthe bad news: my senior thesis project (aka SIP, because my college loves its acronyms), which i've had planned for about 2 years, just got shot down. evidently having an entirely non-theatre-related nervous breakdown rather inconveniently during Angels tech has made them decide that i am too mentally unstable to handle a production design SIP. gluh.
the good news: what they came up with instead will probably be better in the long run -- doing an unrealised design for some random show (yet to be determined) instead, set/lights in Vectorworks/Spotlight and learning said software in order to do so (as drafting those by hand is not really a SIP-worthy project for me). so rather than trying to make one design/concept work in two different spaces with 16 different directors, which is what winter shows have congealed into, i get to do my own thing and learn skills that will be useful to have under my belt. the paperwork end of my portfolio was looking pretty sad anyway.
so, ultimately it's a good thing. but god was that an emotionally tumultuous hour-long meeting.
