Venetian babble, oh hooray.

Okay, so. Venetian post.
Thursday: I went down about 2:30 and Mark (the stage manager) recognized me immediately and went and got me a backstage pass and a crew shirt. Went much better than the other Venetian stuff had, heh. Did the standard sit-around-for-a-long-time, sudden-rush-of-activity-as-we-unload, sit-around-for-a-long-time-again routine. Travis, the uber-annoying guy who has plagued me every year I've worked down there, found me immediately and followed me around talking at me for quite a while. But then I met this other guy named Zach who kept threatening to drown/strangle/maim/kill Travis, so I just hung out with Zach all day and Travis therefore avoided me by association. Later that night I ran into Alaina, Abby, and Brent, and hung out with them intermittently... eventually gave them all a ride home, which kind of sucked for them since I was parked really really far away, heh.
Friday: Went down there... well, I was down there by 3 pretty much every day, so yeah, I'll stop mentioning that. Found reeeallllyyy good parking, up by Schu's instead of at the end of State St. Zach had moved to a different stage, but I found another guy to hang out with, named Jordan, and by this point Travis was kind of avoiding me by default anyway so it didn't make too much of a difference. Bree and Chaz were down there but I didn't et to hang out with them much. The bands were good but disorganized as hell, and Mark had to leave, and this asshole named Jason replaced him. All of the crew except me with my damn work ethic fled, which had the interesting side effect of Jason being marginally less of an asshole just to me since I stayed. Still a jackass, though, blar. Catch me if I'm wrong, but this is a pretty goddamn innappropriate comment for one's boss to make...
Me & Jordan): ::get bored, go and sit on the curb talking for about a half hour:: ::eventually come back because a band was finishing::
Jason): Hey, where were you guys? Off fucking or something? ::annoying laugh::
Jordan): . . . . .
Me): . . . . . . *LOOK OF DEATH* Um, NO.
Jason): Hah, yeah right.
...Yeah, PLEASE DIE.
Saturday: Lacked the parking luck and was all the way at the end of State St... bleeah. On the way down to the stage I ran into Matt K., who I haven't spoken to in, I don't know, months and months. We hung out at a Forensics competition back in February and then he got randomly pissed at me and decided he hated me and pretty much hasn't talked to me since. So I found it strange that he greeted me so enthusiastically ("KELSEY!! *tacklehug*) but whatever. Talked to him for a while and then continued on to River Stage and unloaded crap. Around, I dunno, 5 or 6 or something, I was sitting around being bored and Ali and David showed up at the gate, waving at me past the security guard. I went and walked around with them for a while, then went back to help load out one of the bands. It was wicked hot and humid and I kept grabbing really big stuff (I was strong enough to carry it, but still, heavy) and suddenly I got all dizzy and started feeling like I was going to pass out. Jason made me sit down and rest and drink water for a while, so I called Ali and told her to go meet Bree up elsewhere and to come back and find me later.
Before the second-to-last band they came back, and Jordan decided to hang out with us, and we all walked down by the Pavilion stage and the beach and such, and Ali and Jordan and Bree had a tickle war, heh. Jordan and I rushed back at 9 to help with load-out and the setup for the last band, but we were too late and got bitched at. Ali, Bree, and David met up with Alaina and Brent, and me and Jordan went with them to go to the Better Than Ezra concert (although we lost David along the way because he didn't want to pay for a gate pass). Jason had bitched at me and Jordan to be back by 10, but the concert didn't start until 9:40 or so and we wouldn't have even made it back to River Stage by that point, so I pushed back the horrible feelings of guilt from not doing my job (I tend to have that problem....) and stuck around. The music was pretty good and we were all nice and loud and disruptive, heh... I bought a light-flashy-squishy-spiky-ball-thing (like the one here only that one died and this one is more blue) and Brent mocked my horrid reflexes, and a few of us carried Bree off for no apparent reson, and stuff.
Around 10:45 I started feeling kind of guilty, like I should at least do SOMETHING, so Jordan and I went back to River but there was nothing to do, heh. So we sat with Katelyn (one of the other volunteers) and watched the lighted boat parade which was vaguely retarded. Around 11:45 I was getting ready to leave when I suddenly heard a bunch of people shouting my name; it turned out to be Ali, Bree, Alaina, and Brent, who I'd told to come find me after the show, but as it was so late I'd figured they had already left. We talked some more and they said their goodbyes to Jordan, and Bree said she was going to stop by my house on her way back because there were some books I was going to loan her. Some people who'd been working down there and had a parking pass gave me a ride up to my car, which was good. I got home and proceeded to tear my room apart looking for the books, to no avail. I found one, but not its prequel, making it kind of pointless. Bree showed up and I was in a panic and pissed off that I couldn't find it, but she said it was fine. I just felt bad making her stop by for nothing, bleh. I should probably go look for that again but I really do not know where the hell it is, argh.
Sunday: Went to help with teardown. I got there early because I found good parking faster than expected (it looked like a political statement, I somehow wound up next to an SUV plastered in pro-Bush and uber-religious bumperstickers, which clashed nicely with the bumperstickers on -my- car). But since I was early and the Christian Unity Service/Music thing ran really late, ARGH, I had to sit through that. So that really sucked. I mean, fine for them, but it's REEEAALLLLLYYYYY not my thing and I was kind of hoping to miss it. Anyway, after that was done, I helped the sound guys pack up. Which was plenty of work, heh, hauling around huge-ass speakers and cable boxes and stuff, and of course I'll probably be sore as hell tomorrow because I kept grabbing stuff that was probably too heavy for me although I could still move it, and insist on moving it myself, just because I hate being seen as a wussy girl. Heh. And I'm pretty goddamn sore anyway from the last few days of work anyway. OH well... but yeah, it was neat, because I figured out a lot of the trailer-loading logistics, how to organize stuff, and they wound up fitting a fair amount more in there than they had when they'd loaded it themselves. Yay for me, I guess, heh. And Mark wrote down the contact info for me so that he could call me and get me down there working earlier in the week next year.
And um... yeah. That was my last few days. And that was excessively long but whatever. And now I'm tired and sore and kind of dead, and I think I'm going for a drive in my car that is working again yay. And I'm going to shut up now, and I'm going to stop using the word "and" so fucking much... sheesh.
