QUICK, EVERYONE RECOMMEND A BOOK TO ME!

I have tomorrow off and as I don't know if I'll actually find anyone I know wherever I wind up going, I plan on stocking up on books and sitting in the sun reading if I don't find people to hang out with.

But I need books to buy.

So yeah!

hmm well, the last book I read was Kamikaze Girls. (Not that that was the original title or anything. *sigh* Translations.)

I have The Awakening by Kate Chopin. I don't know if you'll like it, but it's set on a beach and I always read it when lounging in the sun.

Perfecto.

OOH! and Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides!
And Running with Scissors by Augusten Burroughs!
And Sloppy Firsts by Megan (sp?) McCafferty (again, sp?)!
And of course anything by what's his face.... dammit....the Me Talk Pretty One Day guy.

Yeeeeah, I basically own everything David Sedaris has written (the Me Talk Pretty guy). I lurve him. And Middlesex was a random grab of mine earlier this quarter, read that 3rd or 4th week...

Someone recommended The Awakening to me earlier this week so maybe I should read that, haha.

Are you South Haven-ing tomorrow? I think I am but I don't want to take the bus -- fucker leaves before the sun sets and come on, what good is that?

Kite Runner (Khalil Somethingorother) is awesome, but kinda heavy subject matter. Still, a beautiful book.

Ever read Margaret Atwood's "The Handmaid's Tale"? Another really-good-but-kinda-depressing book.

If you're into poetry, I'm getting obsessed with Alfred, Lord Tennyson.

I don't know how into sci-fi you are, but even if you're not, get Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson. It's pretty heavy (subject-wise, not mass-wise) but is still very fun. And even if you don't end up getting it, at least sit in the bookstore and read the first chapter, it's the best first chapter of a book of any genre that I've ever read.
