Random items people asked me to find tonight:
-A bar of soap
-"This European candy bar with like... almonds on it..."
-Fudge sauce for ice cream
-Hostess snack cakes

Okay, people. Meijer is a BIG FUCKING STORE. I am not paid enough to know where shit is in other departments. If I am WRANGLING A GIANT BOX OF CORN, why would you assume that I know where fucking Twinkies are?

On the plus side, I actually had an answer on 3/4 of those things, since I do shop there and I have a pretty good memory. But seriously, people... why ask ME? There are usually like 1.5 billion other employees running around, and if you ask one of the ones in, you know, the GROCERY section, maybe they can help you! Gah.

(Relatedly: Most major produce items have big signs protruding off the racks saying where they are. The apples, so you know, are right under that big sign that says "APPLES". The tomatoes are probably over by that big "TOMATOES" sign. Madness, I know. Seriously, people, do I need to walk you through EVERYTHING? How do you, like, survive?)

Chocolate Syrup has always been hard for me to find in some grocery stores. I have no idea where they hide that stuff. Everything else has always been pretty easy to find. You know, the giant signs over every aisle makes is pretty easy. Most people don't know how to open their eyes and actually LOOK, the just go straight to the stupid questions.

Yeah, it is in a kind of random place... but that one falls under the "I work in PRODUCE, why are you asking ME" category of WTF. It's over by the baking supplies where I work.

I think the problem may be that people don't separate things like groceries and produce. They go "FOOD." If what I want is a "food," then anyone near another "food" item should know where my item is.

The soap guy, I have no clue. That's generally not a hard item to find.

Yeah, true. But there is a pretty big -visual- distinction between the produce section and the grocery section -- no aisles in produce, etc -- and produce section alone is bigger than some grocery stores I've been in, so.... really?

Yeah, really. (Aren't people lovable?)

People just expect everybody who works in a place to know where everything is, regardless of training or experience. I guarantee that you will be asked at least once before the not-too-distant future if you have any Wii's in stock.
