So Chicago was quite delightful. Met some people from the message board I run, and had lots of funtimes with Lenya wherein we were continually brain-twins to the point of it being a little surreal.
Friday:
-Bid farewell to Mouse, packed my stuff, left Kzoo
-Drove to Gary, where I managed not to get lost despite detours and having never been there
-Took South Shore to Chicago
-Took bus to metal bar with tasty burgers
-Walked 3 miles back to Lenya's house, stopping in any shops that looked interesting
-Arts & crafts woooo. I had shrinky-dink plastic which we drew on and then shrunk and now I will have awesome magnets. EXCEPT I JUST REALISED I LEFT THE LEFTOVERS AT HER PLACE, CRAAAAP.
Saturday:
-Tasty brunch-thing
-Shopping wooo, also key-duplication and a stop at Walgreens after which we were very classy, with Lenya applying deodorant in the parking lot whilst I swigged directly from my bottle of cough syrup
-More arts & crafts woooo. I now have 7 magnets-to-be.
-Took train up north a bit to meet with internet-friend for Vietnamese food, which I'd never had before. I had pho and it was tasty.
-Met up with some of her friends, attempted to go to German Festival, deterred by insane drunken crowds, went to bar instead, somehow wound up WAY the fuck west
-Took different train back to Lenya's once she returned from concert; encountered boggling numbers of drunks, including a perfectly normal-looking young man screaming "MY NAME IS CHARLIE AND I NEED DICK", which earned remarkably few strange looks but I guess that's what happens in Boystown
-Played Scrabble until we passed out
Sunday:
-Tasty breakfast delivered to our door with remarkable speed, eaten while finishing up game of Scrabble
-25 minutes of Red Line
-35 minutes of bus with crazy detour action
-Wandered around craft fair full of 57438509432523 super awesome things; I could've spent so much money there were I not broke... got a poster and a squid pin, though
-20 minutes of bus
-25 minutes of different bus
-25 minutes of SUPER DUPER CROWDED Red Line. Like, crowded to the point that by a few stops from mine they were announcing "THERE IS ANOTHER TRAIN IMMEDIATELY BEHIND THIS TRAIN, THIS TRAIN IS FULL, PLEASE DO NOT GET ON IT KTHX" and then somehow 10 more people would squeeze on anyway. I kept thinking of this.
-Coffee with another one of aforementioned internet people
-1 hour and 15 minutes of commuter train
-1 hour of driving, wherein I once again managed not to get lost in Gary
And now I am home, where I spent an hour being pissy because my father decided not to come home and Ireland-plan like he said he would, instead opting to hang out with his stupid Republican girlfriend. My annoyance somehow felt vaguely parental (like "graarrarrr so irresponsible staying out late after I told him to come home"), which was odd and aggravating.
Anyway. Errands in the morning, then laundry, then back to Kzoo, where I have a few days to clean and do whatever else it is I do anymore, and then I get to do some entertaining, aaand then vacation.
And then I guess I have to get a move on that whole "figuring out/doing something useful with my life" thing. Guh.
