so I went on a field trip to Chicago today with Art Club... yeah. it was pretty fun, anyway. we got an hour and a half for shopping... bah... yeah, I don't "shop". but I had fun running around stupid preppy stores with Sarah, anyway, since we kepy picking out hideous and/or completely out-of-character clothing and waving it at each other and going, "Oh, this is SO you!"


it was a shame I didn't have my camera -- she got me into a pink cowboy hat at one point, haha.


but yeah. so then we went to the Art Institute, where I wandered around with some people and pissed off a security guard. That was very special. See, there was this stupid "art piece" that consisted of yarn strung from ceiling to floor, and I thought it was dumb but I wasn't going to be rude and mess with it or anything... it was in the middle of the room, anyway, and kind of in the way... :


Me): ::walks past yarn thing, and a tiny corner of my coat barely brushes against the yarn::
Security guard): ::flips the hell out:: HOW DARE YOU! YOU NEED TO BE MORE CAREFUL AROUND ART! ::practically foaming at the mouth::
One of the guys with me): ::trying to defuse situation:: Um... so, uh... What is this? ((Meaning, what's the artistic statement behind it and where's its little describey card))
Security guard): ::starts shrieking at him at the top of her lungs:: IT'S ART!!! YOU PEOPLE ARE SO DISRESPECTFUL OF BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH
Group I'm with): .... ::backs away slowly, then flees::


So that was very much special.


Anyway, um, yeah. I'm bored. bye.

No, I didn't see that one, though I DID see one that was just plain painted black.

I really don't get modern art sometimes.

The big black painting is supposed to be this huge, inescapable mass of darkness that just kinda sucks you in. Or so I've been told.

As for the yelling, the guard was screamin' at ya probably because you're a teenager, and for some people all teenagers are satan spawn and will destroy and/or maim anything of any importance. Yay for ignorance, eh? Oye.
