Sep. 27th, 2006 11:03 pmso I've been thinking a lot about this since my drunken freak-out night (if you are not one of the people who can see that post, be glad), and I'm basically 99.9% sure I'm leaving K after this year. having friends and being happier has only made it clearer that this ISN'T the place for me, in a funny way -- last year I wasn't sure whether the culprit of my discontent was the school or my not having any friends, and now that the latter problem has been removed I know that it's the former. I'm also pretty sure if I transfer it'll be to Grand Valley. they have a lot of programs that seem really interesting, it's still reasonably close to home... it'll actually probably not cost me THAT much less than K because I'll be losing all my scholarships, but the upside to that is here I have super-crazy pressure to be done in 4 years otherwise said extensive scholarships go right the fuck away and I'm stuck paying for a $32,000-dollar-a-year school without them. if it takes me longer to get the degree I want out of Grand Valley, then it does, and the cost won't change drastically.
of course, I'm sure I'll be looked down upon extensively by my fellow classmates for transferring to *gasp* a state school. however, I don't particularly fucking care.
also? OH MY GOD THEY HAVE A PHOTOGRAPHY MAJOR. not to mention THEY HAVE A PHOTOGRAPHY MAJOR. and oh, by the way, THEY HAVE A FUCKING PHOTOGRAPHY MAJOR.
not that I find that exciting or anything, heh.

Date: 2006-09-29 04:46 am (UTC)personally...grand valley is too much of a conservative island in a cornfield for me...i like my little southeast michigan liberal bubble...i feel so at home here
like...i dunno...it was meant to be i guess (as hokey as that may sound)...and thats the feeling you need to have at a school for it to work...after my orientation at northern i was uneasy which is why i didnt go there...wasnt for me
lmc was fine because i was at home
and here...not only am i in a place that feels right...but i live with my best friends and go to school with them...its just about amazing...lol
so i hear where you're comming from...because i would have been in the same boat had i gone to NMU

Date: 2006-09-29 05:46 am (UTC)you're at eastern now, right? that was my second choice, i spent a lot of time going back and forth between whether i wanted to be there or at k. so i'll probably reinvestigate that too -- i just know i want to be A. close-ish to home and B. NOT at fucking Western.
i'll probably re-visit some places first week of my winter break, y'all will still be in session, i'm sure :P
